Growing up as a teen in Los Angeles can be very stressful. If your teen is having problems with life and dealing with depression, stress, anger, low-self esteem, and exhibiting bad behaviors, you might consider sending your child to see a Los Angeles teen therapist. In the past, teen therapy has been the only option for parents to help their troubled teen, until now.
As a teenager raised here in Los Angeles, I know what its like to work with a teen therapist. And while there are some benefits in teen therapy, I would recommend to most parents that they try working with a teen life coach versus sending their teen to therapy. The biggest challenge with teen therapists are that your child will feel like something is wrong with them. Bring up therapy to your teen and watch them immediately shut down and I don’t blame them. When I went to therapy as a teenager all my teen therapist would talk about is what is “wrong” with me. They made me feel shame and guilt and that I needed to be fixed. More so, their demeanor was depressing and unsettling. As a coach, we are the exact opposite. Unlike a teen therapist in Los Angeles, we focus on the positive and what works. We want to celebrate your teen and help them achieve their goals in life.
So how does this support your teen?
Well first of all if your teen is exhibiting any negative behaviors or dealing with any stressful issues, it is due to the fact that they are focusing on the matter from a negative “perspective”. They must have a belief that tells them that the situation is “bad” which is making them feel worse about the situation. This is why teen therapy is not the answer because what you choose to focus on expands. A Los Angeles teen therapist will spend their time focusing on what does not work. There responsibility is on discovering the “why” of a problem. And while understanding the why does play a part in moving forward, it’s only a small part as the main focus should be on what it is you want from any situation (the goal). All I want to do is focus on the positive by discovering a solution in a fun and playful manner. I see life challenges as a great opportunity to learn and grow so we should have fun doing it!
